You

Standard

You would argue that the night sky was green
Just to be different and have the last word.
You’re stubborn and silent, forever preen,
Yet full of emotion that goes unheard.

I feel like I know you, yet can’t fathom
Your intricate thoughts, or what’s in your mind.
Time with you is like suspended chasm,
And there is no exit that I can find.

But like the perfect drug I can’t just stop,
For one day you might be just what I need,
You might have the answers, my guard can drop,
And I can be who I am meant to be,

You are like that splinter beneath my skin,
So deep, without trying, you are my sin.
